#1 5 top sources of information

When researching and understanding current news sources my tastes have changed over the years. The goal is to find credible and reliable sources that provide alternate points of view. News has become one sided based on the sources that you review. Knowledge is power on what is going on in the world today. The five sources that I use the most, are families who learn different positions or understanding of current events, Youtube, Twitter, ESPN, and BBC. 

My family are all college Graduates and have different passions based on topics. My father is a graduate from Ohio State in geophysics who values science, politics and current events.  My mother graduated from SIU, with a degree in Communications studying journalism and is up to date on health policy and business. My brother has a sports communication degree and is working on his graduate degree in Higher Education Leadership. He has written a book and will be published in 2022 but he loves sports, current events and the stock market.  My family is a great news source because they get their news from various sources cable, twitter, online and are always knowledgeable on current information and research based on their work and interests. I trust their opinions yet we debate and have civilized conversations about the news and sometimes agree to disagree. The goal is to learn and everyone is heard.

 Youtube is another source I tend to get information on because of the video content that is uploaded from various people of different backgrounds. You can watch varying opinions with speakers, writers, musicians and even see politicians who change their points of view based on how the environment is to gather followers. YouTube has taught me to fill my oil in my car, braid my friends' hair, and watch emerging singers become famous. It also is a great place to hear other people's political views and opinions on a topic that gets popular.


Twitter  is a social networking site that shares differing points of view on many topics at a very fast rate.  They have over 100 million active daily users. Tweets need to be short, only 140 characters. People are constantly tweeting new information as well as creating hashtags and trends to get people's attention either as positive or negative excitement. It is all about building a network of individuals to follow to create a specific platform of information on your interests, beliefs and opinions through media sharing.

 
ESPN has been part of my family for as long as I can remember. Sports have always been a large part of my family, friends, and communities we have lived. ESPN provides live sports, highlights, bloopers, talk shows connecting people with sports locally and internationally. It's a very diverse site that gives statistics, play by plays, trades, add-ons, Covid Updates, and player information on cable and online. ESPN has many different site add ons, social media platforms, and apps. It's a site that has built its reputation on being the best in the industry. ESPN may contain entertainment news programming but it has many different outlets of information on a positive platform that is shared by many people around the world.  


 BBC News is British Broadcasting BBC News is an outstanding outlet for information because it has a domestic and global view on the world. They provide details on items that are discussed overseas about the United States. This news station prides itself on an unbiased point of view and it reports all sides of current situations.  While also being a trustworthy and credible source they provide online, television and radio viewership and information. It is good to understand both sides of an argument to make up your mind to gain further perspective. 

It is important to include many media sources into your learning and growth experience into adulthood. All these sources have many things in common, sharing news and education details so you can form your own opinions and have the most up to date information. Varying platforms provide news highlights in different ways and viewpoints. I like to understand all sides before making up my mind because multiple different perspectives on a topic are crucial.

#8 American conservative/antiwar

   The American conservative and Antiwar.com are two vastly different sources and I respect the author's opinions on these topics. These sources are different compared to CNN, BBC, or NBC.  Each story on these resource sites has strong opinions on many stories happening right now.  Antiwar.com and the American conservative are not resources that I've heard much about therefore it comes into question the credibility and reliability. When looking at antiwar.com it is a super chaotic website it is not organized. Whereas, the American Conservative website was well put together with links, pictures, interviews, and much more to get key information. When reading deep diving into these websites I found common biased parts that indicate a preference for a certain political group. I believe since they have a strong poll for one way or another thinking style that must be why these articles don't grow popularity on search engines or credibility of sharing it.  In the United States o

#2 The U.S. Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court was created in 1789. The videos presented were very educational showing the process of which it conducts legal business. The Supreme court has to oversee if laws are constitutional or not. The Court is making sure that the American people are promised fair and equal justice under the law. The Supreme Court also has the option to hear or dismiss any case.  The part in the video that caught my attention the most is how lengthy the process is to pass anything. Once judges have voted it normally takes up to 4 weeks to program a detailed draft outline of the opinion made on the case. When it comes to difficult cases, there is an immense amount of responsibility and pressure on the judge to make a judgement call after overseeing all details.
